Senior Congress leader and former Union Home Minister P Chidambaram today held a meeting with party leaders in Telangana on the 'Shakti' app developed by the party for communication between the top leadership and booth-level workers.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy and several other leaders attended the event at Gandhi Bhavan, the headquarters of TPCC, here. AICC data analytics department chairman Pravin Chakravarthy was also present.
"The purpose of their visit was to review the registrations of Shakti project, which began across the country as per the thoughts of Rahul Gandhi ji, in Telangana so far and its future course of action," Reddy told reporters after the meeting.
Gandhi's idea is to empower Congress workers across the country through the Shakti app, he said.
Booth-level workers would get Gandhi's programmes, videos, messages daily and also communication from PCC, DCC presidents and other leaders, he added.
The booth-level workers can send photos, videos and other matter to the top leaders, including Gandhi, he said.
Chidambaram stressed the importance of using latest technology to win the elections in the present times, he said.
Gandhi wanted at least 25 party workers and well-wishers per booth to enrol in the Shakti app in Telangana and the party would move accordingly in the state, Reddy said.
More than one lakh people enrolled themselves in the app so far in Telangana, he said.
