This performance was higher by 1.28 per cent than the 32 million target set by the Ministry of Shipping, the Port said in a release.
The Port crossed the target of 32 million tonnes by handling 32.03 MT on Mar 28 2015. The target was achieved three days ahead of the current fiscal year ending March 31, it said.
In containers, the Port handled a record throughput of 5,59,727 TEUs in 2014-15, compared with the previous year's figure of 5,07,735 TEUs, an increase of 10.24 per cent. The Shipping Ministry had set the target at 5,47,890 TEUs.
