Police said the wedding of a 17-year-old girl with a 22-year-old youth was to take place at Perapatti village near Sivakasi. The officials rushed to the spot and stopped the wedding and advised the parents against going ahead with the marriage.
Wedding of another girl aged 17 at Palavandham village was also stopped by the officials an hour before the wedding.
The girl was to marry a youth who was ten years older to her. The officials also took an undertaking from the parents that they would not marry off their respective daughters till they became major. Both the girls were admitted to the children centre at Virudhunagar, police said.
