Chillies filled with drugs prevented from entering jail

A consignment of narcotics stuffed inside thick green chillies was prevented from being smuggled into Mathura Jail by alert police officials.
The accused -- Shanker, brother of one of the inmates, was caught red-handed while trying to smuggle Charas and Ganja into the jail by mixing the stuffed green chillies in the spice sack that was being taken inside the jail, District Magistrate(Mathura) Rajesh Kumar said today.
According to police, 150 gms of Charas and 400 gms of Ganja were recovered from Shanker. He has been arrested and booked under relevant sections of the IPC.
Following the incident, a surprise check was carried out at the jail by a team of officers yesterday but nothing was found, the DM said.
