The 30-volume "China Acupuncture Treasury" compiled after seven years of research, contains 97 ancient records on acupuncture, of which 48 were recently discovered, official media here reported.

Published by Beijing Science and Technology Press, the collection features modern clinical medicine annotations to complement the ancient documents, including overviews, clinical applications and references.

Headed by acupuncture specialist Professor He Puren the editorial board consists of a wide variety of experts on traditional Chinese medicine, as well as clinical acupuncture experts, the report said.

Acupuncture is part of traditional Chinese medicine therapy.

It involves insertion of fine metallic needles on the body to relieve pain and cure diseases.
