Gu Meiying, a Miao ethnic tribal woman from southwestern Yunnan province, can easily be noticed from other local villagers due to her uncommonly long hair which grows six to seven centimeters annually.
"I consider my hair as a treasure and talisman," Gu said, adding that she believes long hair is good for health.
"I insist on growing it and will aim for a Guinness world record," she was quoted as saying by the state-run China Daily.
It takes a week to dry after washing, Gu said.
The world's longest documented hair belongs to Xie Qiuping of China measuring 5.627 meters.
