Chopper service to Shiv Khori Shrine at Reasi soon

In a major step to facilitate the pilgrims visiting the famous Shiv KhoriShrinein Reasi district, the authorities today announced that helicopter services would be launched soon.
"Helicopter services to Shiv Khori Shrine in Reasi district are in the offing to facilitate the pilgrims visiting it," Reasi District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ravinder Kumar, who is also theVice Chairperson of Shiv Khori Shrine Board, said.
He said construction of the helipad and allied infrastructure, along with the approach road, was almost complete and the service was likely to start "very soon".
Regarding the trial run conducted, Kumar said the chopper covered the distance between Katra and the shrine in 12 minutes and safely landed at the Shiv Khori helipad.

During the trial run, all the safety measures were taken by the shrine board, he added.
The final call on launching the service was likely to be taken in the upcoming meeting of the shrine board, Kumar said.
He added that the process of floating tenders has been initiated and it would be completed in a "short span".
The service was earlier stopped due to certain issues and now, the board has once again shown interest in re-launching it, Kumar said.
