Chouhan calls Modi "Yugpurush"; hails post-note ban sops

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today described demonetisation as a "historic" decision and hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for announcing a slew of welfare measures for different sections of society.
Note ban was a "historic" decision which could not have been taken by any other Prime Minister, Chouhan said and described Modi as a "Yugpurush" (epoch-maker).
The BJP leader was talking to the media after visiting the famous Shri Saibaba Temple here in Ahmednagar district. On the occasion, Chouhan was felicitated by Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust's Executive Officer Bajirao Shinde.
The Chief Minister congratulated Modi for announcing a host of sops for rural and urban poor, middle class, small traders, women and senior citizens during his address to the nation yesterday at the end of 50-day period post banning of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes.

He said the PM has started a battle against corruption and black money, and this fight will continue till the menace is curbed. The BJP Government in Madhya Pradesh is also fighting this scourge at the state-level.
Madhya Pradesh will take lead in the Centre's push for cashless transactions, Chouhan maintained.

He voiced support for holding simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls to cut down on time and expenses.
Chouhan said to end election-related corruption a system of "state funding" of polls should be put in place. The Government should bear entire expenses required for polls.
Those fighting polls should be provided funds through the Election Commission. It has been observed that candidates spend much beyond the limit prescribed for them, the Chief Minister said.
