To keep the Delhi Metro safe and secure for lakhs of commuters, the CISF today launched an awareness programme to tap youngsters and their sharp observation skills in detecting suspicious activities at the mass civic transport medium.
Senior officials of the force visited six educational institutes here and intend to visit more in order to train students and youngsters about suspicious behaviour and the list of prohibited items which could be sneaked inside stations and trains by criminal or terrorist elements to create trouble.
The officials also showcased the frisking and checking techniques the force deploys to secure the Metro and urged the youngsters to inform the security personnel present on spot or call the CISF helpline in case of distress or suspicion.
The 24x7 CISF Metro helpline number-011-22185555- has been displayed inside coaches and stations.
"The campaign aims to provide basic tips for hassle-free transit in Delhi Metro. It also aims to enlist support and cooperation of regular commuters in aiding and assisting the dedicated security apparatus in providing comprehensive security to Delhi Metro," the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) said in a statement.
The force wants to tap the observation skills and positively bring out the civic responsibility of the young and tech-savvy students in checking illegal activities at the Metro at a time the mass transport system is witnessing burgeoning numbers of travellers across various parts of the city and in the National Capital Region.
The CISF officials, according to the statement, will "cover more educational institutes as well as other segments of regular Metro users including officegoers, BPOs and vendors in the future" as part of the awareness drive.
