A 61-member team of Uttar Pradesh police officials is being trained by the CISF here in acquiring some special skills for securing the Lucknow Metro.
Officials said the paramilitary has prepared a special capsule for the first batch of these officials, led by an Assistant Commandant-rank officer, who will secure the Metro in their state capital, on lines of what the CISF does for the Delhi Metro.
They said the UP police personnel will be trained in the nuances of smartly securing the mass rapid transport system against terror and sabotage threats by deploying smart surveillance, intelligence and security techniques.
That apart, they will also be skilled in usage of security gadgets meant for passenger and baggage frisking and others.
The training was inaugurated yesterday by CISF Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Chief Security Officer Raghubir Lal.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was first tasked to secure the Delhi Metro in April 2007 and has now developed expertise on the subject.
There are about 4,500 CISF men and women guarding about 150 stations of the Delhi Metro network at present.
The trial run for the maiden Metro project of UP was done last year by former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for about 8.5-km track between Transport Nagar depot and Charbagh station.
The first phase of this Metro is expected to get operational soon.
Two more batches of the UP Police will be trained by the CISF in this task, a senior official said.
