City resident shot dead by miscreants

A resident of the Kareya-Tiljala area died today after miscreants shot at him late last night, the police said.
The incident happened at around 1.30AM last night when two local miscreants identified as - Master and his brother Mister - shot 32-year-old Bijay Roy who was chatting with two others in front of his house on Kareya-Tiljala road, they said.
It was learnt that Roy and Master fought earlier yesterday evening during Durga idol immersion. Master later in the night along with his brother and other associates went to Roy's locality.
"They fired six rounds out of which one hit Roy in his lower abdomen," a senior officer of Kolkata Police said adding that though Roy was rushed to a local hospital immediately his condition deteriorated and he finally succumbed to death this afternoon.

A case has been registered at the Kareya Police Station in this connection and the police have launched a search for Master and Mister, who were absconding.
