He was accompanied by his wife Amita, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Supreme Court Judge N V Ramana.
Naidu had arrived at the temple earlier to receive him. He later accompanied the CJI to the sanctum sanctorum, temple PRO Talari Ravi said.
Before visiting the hill temple, the CJI with his wife and Justice Ramana worshipped at the shrine of Goddess Padmanavathi, known as Sri Alamel Mangai at Tiruchanur near here, where he arrived this evening on a two-day pilgrimage.
The CJI is likely to participate in the pre-dawn rituals conducted in the temple on Friday, he added.
