Claims Commissioner submits report on loss assessment during

Claims Commissioner RC Bansal, a retired District and Sessions Judge who was appointed by the Haryana government to assess the amount of loss of property caused during the Jat quota agitation in 2010, 2011 and 2012, submitted its report to it here today.
He also submitted another report on damage caused to public property in an agitation, which resulted in disruption of road and rail traffic during January 15-26, 2011 in the state.
Bansal handed over the two reports to Additional Chief Secretary, Home Ram Niwas here, said an official release.
The release, quoting a spokesman of the commission, said after obtaining the necessary information from all the quarters, conducting inquiries and collecting evidence, the amount of loss during the agitation from September 13-16, 2010, March 6-26, 2011 and February 19-March 12, 2012 has been assessed at over Rs 4.45 crore.
Of this, Rs 2.92 crore pertains to 10 claim petitions and Rs 1.52 crore is of different departments of the state government.
The loss assessed by the commission on account of the agitation during January 15-26, 2011 is over Rs 8.72 lakh.
The Claims Commissioner also recommended that the amount of loss caused to public and other properties be recovered from the agitators.
