A clash today broke out between two communities over a petty issue in Sadar Bazaar area.
According to police, the incident took place near Army Cantonment in the eastern part of city where members of the two communities indulged in stone-pelting over a petty issue.
"Despite several warnings people did not stop hurling stones, so police fired two rounds of tear-gas shells," said Inspector J M Patel.
"Patrolling in the surrounding area has been increased and additional police force has been deployed," he said.
No arrest or detention was confirmed by the local police station officials.
