Climate change will have adverse impact on agriculture: Dhumal

Warning against the adverse impact of climate change he said, "Agriculture sector provides highest employment in the unorganised sector but unfortunately the focus was not on this sector, which was facing several problems and now climate change also poses a potential threat."

He inaugurated National Seminar on 'Indian Agriculture, Present Situation, Challenges, Remedies and Road Map' organised by the Youth for Sustainable Development, Shimla in collaboration with the CSK Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University, Palampur.

Dhumal said the state government had started many schemes like Rs 353 cr Deen Dayal Kisan Bagwan Yojana and Rs 300 crore Doodh Ganga Yojana for boosting farm economy.

A unit for skimmed milk had been set up at Datt Nagar in Upper Shimla region to facilitate dairy farmers and they were being encouraged to take up organic farming.
