Popular and influential daily The Washington Post made a strong case for the former First Lady to be elected as the next American president ahead of the Tuesday's election.
Latest polls indicate that the race to the White House has tightened over the last two weeks, with Clinton maintaining a slight edge over her Republican rival Donald Trump.
In a lead editorial, The Post said it has written a lot in recent months about why Trump is manifestly unqualified - by experience, temperament and outlook - for the Oval Office.
"There is no question that Clinton has flaws and has made mistakes in her 30 years in public life, but the caricature painted by her opponents is more slander than reality," The Post observed noting that "it is hard to imagine that any other politician subjected to decades of unrelenting conspiracy-mongering, unprecedented scrutiny and outright misogyny would fare as well as she has".
The New York Times too favoured electing Clinton in the presidential elections.
"If Mr Trump is rejected on Tuesday, the nation will have a momentary breather," the daily wrote in an editorial.
"The United States has seen worse than Donald Trump. It has endured political crises and corruption, war abroad and bloodshed at home. But that doesn't make it any easier to contemplate the catastrophe that looms if we wake up Wednesday morning to President-elect Trump," the New York Times said.
These include even those newspapers which have never endorsed a Democratic candidate in more than a 100 years.
