CM expresses grief over former Bihar Info Officer

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today expressed profound grief over the sudden demise of former Bihar Information Service Officer Kamlakant Upadhyay.

He had also served as Public Relations Officer in the CM office earlier.

Upadhyay died at his residence early this morning in the state capital while he was asleep, family sources said adding that he was taken to a private hospital where doctors declared him dead.

He was 57 and is survived by his wife and two sons including a journalist Aditya Vaibhav. He had recently taken voluntary retirement from government service, family sources said.

In his condolence message, Kumar said that Upadhyay was a conscientious officer.

He successfully discharged his duties holding several positions including that of the post of joint director in Information and Public Relations Department (IPRD), the release said.

He also served as Public Relations Officer (PRO) to the Chief Minister for quite long time, it said.

CM prayed to almighty that the departed soul rest in peace besides giving strength and courage to the members of bereaved family to bear the loss, the release said.
