The event was launched by the Chief Minister at a government Girls Higher secondary school in neighbouring Nellithope.
Health Minister Malladi Krishna Rao was among those present.
A release from the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services said around2,000 health staff were deployed to administer the drops to the children and special camps were opened at various centres.
Mobile teams were also functioning to cover the children arriving at bus terminals, railway stations and places of worship with their parents.
