AAP today alleged that "desperate attempts" were being made to "shield" the real culprits in the multi-crore CNG fitness scam and that it was evident in the "half-baked" charge-sheet filed by the Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) under direct instructions from the Lt Governor.
The party also said the BJP-led central government and the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi needed to come clean over their role in suppressing the Rs 100 crore CNG fitness scam.
"The undue haste with which the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) under direct instructions from the Lt Governor filed its half-baked charge-sheet in the CNG scam is a direct evidence of how desperate attempts are being made to save the real culprits," senior AAP leader Ashutosh said.
Ashutosh said the role of the LG, which he claimed to be "suspicious", in the entire matter should be enquired into.
"Lt Governor's role in the case should be enquired and if he is found guilty strict action should be taken against him," said Ashutosh.
The charge-sheet, he claimed, is not just a "watered down" version of the whole scam but it has also diluted the charge which involves compromising and corruption involving the loot of huge amounts of public money.
"This scam involves siphoning of the hard earned money of common man of Delhi by political heavyweights and top officers. The charge-sheet has been forcibly filed to scuttle the ongoing probe into this mega scam of Congress era. The role of Delhi LG is suspicious in this case," he alleged.
The party also raised five questions and challanged both the BJP and the LG to answer them.
"Why is the Narendra Modi-led central government trying to bury the scam of Congress regime? The LG had issued a public statement on June 10 defending his decision to deny prosecution sanction in the CNG fitness scam, why has he taken a sudden U-turn now?" asked AAP Delhi Convenor Dilip Pandey.
Pandey further asked why the LG, whose actions for bringing the ACB under his control illegally have been challenged in court, did not recuse himself from the CNG matter. "Why is the LG silent on his role in the CNG scam? Is it a fact that the LG directed the ACB to file a charge-sheet in a hurry," asked Pandey.
The Anti-Corruption Branch of Delhi government yesterday filed the charge-sheet before Special Judge Poonam Chaudhry in the case.
