World's largest coal miner Coal India is considering a proposal to diversify into mining of minerals like bauxite and iron ore as the company seeks to reduce dependence on mining of the dry fuel, an official said.
"Coal India (CIL) is planning to get into mining of bauxite, nickel and iron ore. However, the proposal is at a very early stage," an official said on the condition of anonymity.
Coal India had recently said that it is planning to diversify into new mining areas although it believes fossil fuel will remain primary source of power generation for at least next two decades.
