Coast Guard Eastern region, Inspector General, Rajan Bargotra, AIADMK MLA R Natraj and senior officials from Coast Guard units were present during the occasion, inaugurated by Chennai Corporation Mayor 'Saidai' Duraisamy, according to a press release.
"About 3,000 personnel including families from Coast Guard, Coastal Security Group, CISF Student volunteers, National Cadet Corps, NSS and NGOs participated in the event," it said.
The International Clean Up Day is organised on every third Saturday in September for maintaining the beaches.
