Cold wave continues in Raj, Mount Abu shivers at minus 3 deg C

Cold wave continued to sweep across Rajasthan with Mount Abu recording a low of minus 3 degrees Celsius affecting normal life and lowering tourist arrival at the hill station.
Last night was the coldest during the season in Mount Abu as mercury dipped to six degrees below normal, an MeT official said today.
The upper layer of Nakki Lake in Mount Abu, froze for some tome affecting boating till 10 am, a civic body official said.
People in most places on the plains shivered due to cold wave sweeping the state for the last one week with Churu and Pilani last night recording a low of 4.7 degrees Celsius each, the MeT department said.
Udaipur recorded 4.8 degrees Celsius followed by Jaipur 5 degrees Celsius, Sriganganagar 5.5 degrees Celsius, Sikar 6.4 degrees Celsius, Bikaner 6.6 degrees Celsius, Jaisalmer 6.8 degrees Celsius, Jodhpur 8.5 degrees Celsius and Kota 8.7 degrees Celsius.
Dense fog in north-eastern regions of Rajasthan affected normal life and highway traffic especially on Delhi-Jaipur, and Jaipur-Agra route via Dausa, Bharatpur, Alwar, Bikaner, Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu and Sikar.
Eight passenger trains under North Western Railway were running late due to fog in the adjoining states of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, its CPRO Tarun Jain said.
Howrah-Sriganganagar train is running late by 4 hours 50 minutes, Gorakhpur-Hisar train by 4 hours 15 minutes, Allahabad-Jaipur train is delayed by 3 hours 50 minutes, and Howrah-Bikaner/Jodhpur train is 2 hours 35 minutes late.
Jaipur-Allahabad train has been rescheduled and would depart 2 hours 40 minutes behind schedule, the CPRO said.
Mercury could further fall as dry weather conditions prevail over the state in next 24 hours, weatherman said.
