Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded the minimum temperature of minus 4.4 degrees Celsius, lowest so far this season, a spokesman of the MET Department here said.
He said the city had registered a low of minus 3.5 degrees Celsius the previous night.
The tourist resort of Pahalgam, which serves as a base camp during the annual Amarnath yatra in south Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 6.3 degrees Celsius, the spokesman said, adding it was the coldest night of the season there.
He said the night temperature in Qazigund - the gateway town to Kashmir Valley - and Kokernag, in south Kashmir, settled at a low of minus 3.1 degrees Celsius and minus 1.6 degrees Celsius respectively.
Kupwara town, in north Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 4.2 degrees Celsius, the spokesman said.
He said the mercury in Leh, in the frontier region of Ladakh, settled at a low of minus 14.4 degrees Celsius while the night temperature in the nearby Kargil town registered a minimum of minus 13.8 degrees Celsius.
