Cold wave persists in Delhi, 8 trains cancelled

The national capital continued to reel under bitting cold conditions as a blanket of fog affected visibility and badly hit rail operations with eight trains getting cancelled and 79 running much behind schedule.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 17 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal while the minimum settled two notches below the season's average at 6.3 degrees Celsius.
The visibility was 700 metres at 8.30 AM and peaked to 1400 meters as the day progressed and was 1200 meters at 5.30 PM.
While eight trains were cancelled today, 79 trains delayed.
Timings of three trains including the Amritsar-Nanded Sachkhand express, Amritsar-New Delhi Express and Jalandhar-New Delhi express were rescheduled, a railway official said.

However, no diversion or cancellation of flights due to fog was reported, according to airport authorities.

Yesterday, the minimum temperature settled two notches below normal at 6 degrees Celsius and the maximum was recorded at 16 degrees Celsius, six notches below normal.
The weather department has predicted mainly clear sky for tomorrow with moderate to dense fog conditions in the morning.
The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 17 and 6 degrees respectively.
