Committee to look into graft charges against univ: Raj Govt

BJP government today announced setting up of a three-member committee to probe allegations of corruption against the Jai Narayan Vyas University and said an indepenedent audit would also be carried out look into the alleged misapproriation of income.
Higher Education Minister K C Saraf informed the House that a committee led by Higher Education Commissioner would be set up to look into graft charges in faculty recruitment and misappropriation of income received by the university by organising the Pre-Teachers Education Test (PTET) since 2008.
Saraf said a third party will carry out an independent audit on the university's income from PTET examination.

The Commissioner would submit the probe report within a month, Saraf said.
Replying to a question by BJP MLA Jogaram Patel, the Minister said the JNVU had not paid the state's share of 50 per cent from its income from PTET to the tune of Rs 55 crore.
"I have warned JNVU's Vice-Chancellor that if the state's share is not paid in three months, the state would stop the grant of Rs 80 crore to the varsity," Saraf said.
The BJP MLA had alleged that the JNVU had earned over Rs 100-150 cr in last seven years from PTET and not paid the state's share.

Whereas three other BJP MLAs, Babu Singh, Suryakant Vyas and Kailash Bhansali, said there was a hue and cry over the "recruitment scam" reported in the JNVU in recent past.
