Committees to look into unauthorised possession of govt land

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal gave his nod for the constitution of these committees last evening, an official spokesman said here today.

He said the Cabinet sub committee to review the unauthorised possession of government land in urban areas comprises Local Bodies Minister Chunni Lal Bhagat, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Adesh Partap Singh Kairon, Finance Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Education Minister Sikander Singh Maluka and PWD Minister Sharanjeet Singh Dhillon.

Likewise the Cabinet sub committee to review the situation in rural areas consists of Tourism Minister Sarwan Singh Phillaur, Health and Family Welfare Minister Madan Mohan Mittal, Irrigation Minister Janmeja Singh Sekhon, Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia and Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra.

The Cabinet Sub Committees have been directed to submit their reports along with recommendations by January 31 next year to tackle with the situation besides suggesting concrete steps so that the problem does not recur in future.

The Sub Committees have been asked to take assistance of the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary Finance and Advocate General besides any other officer of the state government as they may deem fit according to their requirement.
