The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MH-CET) 2015, conducted for admissions to medical colleges in the state, would be based on the syllabus of Maharashtra state board, it was announced here today.
Maharashtra Education Minister Vinod Tawde today said here until previous year, this exam was based on the syllabus of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
Until 2012, MH-CET medical entrance exam was based on Maharashtra state board's Class 12 curriculum.
In 2013, the Maharashtra government adopted NEET syllabus but the Supreme Court scrapped NEET and the state conducted its own entrance test in May 2014.
"The NEET syllabus, largely based on Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) textbooks, is vast and students from the state board find it difficult to cope with it. So, I asked the department to make appropriate changes for this year's exam," Tawde said.
The Maharashtra state government has already scrapped the negative marking pattern which was earlier adopted from NEET.
