A paper mill owner has registered a complaint against District Collector of Theni for allegedly making derogatory remarks against him during a telephonic conversation, police said.
In his online complaint to Dindigul SP, owner of the mill, Ramachandran, said he had sought Venkatachalam's help to resolve a dispute over the licence given to his mill when he was Dindigul Collector.
He claimed his efforts to contact him over phone were in vain and he then sent a short messaging service (sms) to the collector's mobile phone. As soon as he received the SMS, the collector contacted him and made some derogatory remarks, he alleged, police said quopting the complainant.
He also enclosed the audio-recording of the remarks, purportedly made by the collector along with the complaint. He said he had sent the complaint to the Chief Minister's special cell also.
In his complaint, he warned that if police did not take any action against the collector,he would commit suicide, police said.
However, the collector could not be reached for his comments.
Meanwhile Saminathapuram police station personnel told PTI that the SP had forwarded the complaint to them for action.
Ramachandran told PTI that he had been called to the police station for inquiry in connection with the complaint.
