The Questions and Reference Committee of Delhi Assembly today recommended an enquiry against SDMC Commissioner by the Delhi government for his "conduct" in connection with civic body stalling development works being done through MLA-LAD fund.
The report of the committee, headed by Deputy Speaker Rakhi Birla, was today tabled on floor the House.
The Committee had summoned SDMC commissioner Puneet Kumar Goyal, Principal Secretary (Delhi Governments UD) Janak Diggal and other senior officials on a complaint filed by AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj against stalling of various civic works by the SDMC in December last year.
Although Goyal failed to appear before it, citing his official engagements on two occasions, he appeared before the Assembly committee on third occasion, which had then recommended contempt notice against him over his behaviour.
"The Committee recommends that the government should immediately conduct an enquiry into the conduct of Puneet Goyal, Commissioner of SDMC on charges of indiscipline, dereliction of duty and causing deliberate delay in the execution of public works hurting the public interest," the report stated.
It also recommended that government should come up with firm measures, if necessary by way of amending/enacting law(s) which would put an end to various designs of all those who try to hurt public interest by way of creating hurdles in implementation of works being taken up under MLALADS.
"Action taken report should be submitted to the House within a period of three months," committee stated.
