Conference on Kumauni language begins at Almora

A two-day conference on Kumauni language today began at Kumaun University's Almora campus in Uttarakhand.
The conference 'Kumauni Bhasa Sammelan' has been organised by Sahitya Academy, New Delhi in collaboration with Varsity's Hindi Department and Kumauni Prachar Samiti.
"Kumauni has its ten western and four eastern dialects in that 'Khas Parjia' is the most popular that should be adopted for Kumauni literature," Professor Sher Singh Bisht said in his key note address.
Sahitya Academy secretary K Sreenivasa Rao said that the Academy is dedicated to work for the betterment of literature and its publications including local languages of the country.
Book exhibition and folk art exhibition will be displayed during the conference.
