The opposition Congress has asked the Rangasamy-led AINRC government here to evolve without delay a new industrial policy to prevent closure of industries and to save workers from losing jobs.
PCC President A V Subramanian said in a release here today that of 4000 industries that were functioning some four years ago, only 1500 industries were working while the remaining had been closed.
He claimed that the closure was primarily due to discontinuation of the subsidies and other incentives to entrepreneurs by the Puducherry government.
