Congress today latched on to the stalking and murder of a woman incident in Delhi to target the NDA government claiming the Centre's ruling alliance is also in power in the three "worst" performing areas in terms of crimes against women.
"We express grave concern, sorrow and anger at the kind of situation developing in Delhi and in India regarding the stalking of women," party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters.
He said Maharashtra and Telengana follow Delhi as far as crimes against women are concerned.
Noting that in Delhi, crimes related to stalking have "doubled", he said, "Delhi is being talked of as the Stalking Capital of India."
Refering to yesterday's incident in Delhi, he said what happened is shocking and brutal and it is occurring in broad daylight. "Figures suggest 3 worst areas in crimes against women are NDA areas", he added.
A 21-year-old woman was stabbed to death in broad daylight yesterday by a man who had been stalking her for about a year.
