Opposition Congress today created a ruckus in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly over the number of appointments made through the Vyapam Board after 2012.
Senior Congress MLA Mukesh Nayak sought to know the exact number of inspectors appointed in Weights and Measures department by the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board, also known as Vyapam by its Hindi acronym, after 2012.
He said wrongdoings took place during the appointments.
In his reply, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Omprakash Dhurve said no irregularity had taken place in the selections, which he said were made as per rules. "I am open to any probe," he said.
However, Nayak said something was fishy about the appointments.
"Two separate advertisements were issued to fill up 33 posts of inspectors. However, a total of 54 inspectors were recruited in the weight and measure department in a hush-hush manner," he said.
Congress MLAs, led by Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh, created uproar over the issue, following which they staged a walkout in the House.
The Vyapam case refers to massive irregularities in recruitment for various Madhya Pradesh government jobs.
The CBI had registered multiple FIRs to investigate the case.
