A meeting of Congress Chief Ministers today rejected the proposed amendments to the land acquisition bill signalling that the party campaign against the controversial move by the Modi government is unlikely to subside.
In a resolution, the meeting presided by Sonia Gandhi "rejected the proposed amendments to the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2013 and also the recommended dilutions in the National Food Security Act, 2013".
The meet was also addressed by party vice president Rahul Gandhi who has led the campaign on the issue. He dubbed the amendments as "anti-farmer" and "pro-corporate".
