Cong MLA claims Rs 1.32 cr as medical reimbursement

Rohtas Nagar Congress MLA Vipin Sharma has claimed a whopping Rs 1.32 crore of medical reimbursement during fourth Delhi Assembly whereas BJP MLA O P Babber made the least claim of Rs 8,182 during five years.
Similarly, the travel bills of MLAs of Delhi assembly present of wide spectrum of claims made by them with BJP MLA from Shakur Basti Shyam Lal Garg making total claims of Rs 3.87 lakh during last five years, whereas Congress MP from Rajouri Garden A Dayanand Chandila making modest claim of Rs 17,682 during the period, RTI reply reveals.
The details have been provided by the Delhi government under the RTI reply to activist Subhash Agrawal.

Besides Sharma who claimed Rs 1.32 crore of medical reimbursement during the last five years, other major claimant MLAs include independent MLA from Najafgarh Bharat Singh with Rs 27.5 lakh and BJP MLA from Hari Nagar Harsharan Singh Balli with Rs 17.4 lakh.
Among least spenders on medical bills are Congress MLA from Kalkaji Subhash Chopra who claimed Rs 9,848 during last five years, BJP MLA Jai Bhagwan Aggarwal who claimed only Rs 15,121, RTI reply reveals.
According to rules, MLAs can avail free medical treatment or reimbursement and free accommodation in all hospitals run by government and all other panel or referral hospitals empanelled or declared as such by the government in accordance with the medical attendance rules and the DGEHS.

The facilities will be available on priority basis as available to group-A officers of the highest grade of the government, provided that a compulsory monthly contribution shall be levied from every minister, the same rate as would be payable by a Group A officer of the highest grade of the government which shall be recoverable from the monthly salary of the minister.
