Hazaribagh Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Kumar Jha said Nirmala Devi was arrested in Ranchi on a warrant issued by a Hazaribagh court.
A report from Hazaribagh said, Judicial Magistrate (First Class, Hazaribagh) Richa Srivastava, rejected the bail petition filed by the MLA's husband Yogendra Sao, who was also arrested recently in connection with the same incident.
The FIR was lodged by the Sub-Divisional Officer against the couple and some others after violence broke out on August 14 at a construction site of the NTPC, as anti-land acquisition protesters violated prohibitory order under section 144 CrPC promulgated at the site in Hazaribagh district, the police said.
His wife Nirmala Devi, who contested from Barkagaon in the 2014 Assembly polls, raised the issue in the Jharkhand Assembly yesterday and today, pleading innocence and demanding action against the police.
