The term of five sitting MLCs, including BJP leader Nitin Gadkari, will expire on July 19.
State Congress president Manikrao Thakre told PTI that the party will contest Pune Teachers, Nagpur Graduate and Amravati Teachers constituencies, while NCP will contest Aurangabad and Pune Graduate constituencies.
The decision was taken here today at a meeting where NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Thakre and Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan were present, he said.
Apart from Gadkari, who is contesting the Lok Sabha election from Nagpur, the other outgoing Members of Legislative Council are Satish Chavan (NCP), Chandrakant Patil (BJP) and independents Bhagwan Salunke and Vasant Khotere.
