Congress and other Opposition parties are turning the suicide by Rohith Veluma, a dalit researchscholar at Hyderabad University, into a political issue, BJP national secretary H Raja said here today.
Since these parties don't have anything to point against the BJP-led Central government, they are attempting to create a big issue out of the matter, he told reporters here.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already voiced his grief over the suicide, Raja said.
Some 'anti-socials' are trying to bring caste and politics on the campuses of educational institutions, he alleged.
Asked about his reaction to the prohibition on liquor, Raja said it's possible if the government took over the sand and granite quarries business to make up for the revenue losses (due to the ban) to the tune of Rs 10,000 crore.
On possible electoral alliance in the state, he said it would be decided immediately after the announcement of poll dates.
