: The opposition Congress today reiterated their demand for sacking of Union Minister Giriraj Singh from the cabine for his 'highly objectionable' remarks against Sonia Gandhi.
The minister of state for micro, small and medium enterprises is under fire for his racist barb at Sonia Gandhi. He had asked whether Congress would have accepted Sonia Gandhi's leadership had she not been white-skinned.
"Had Rajiv Gandhi married a Nigerian woman and if she was not a white-skinned woman, would the Congress have then accepted her (Sonia's) leadership?" he had told journalists on Tuesday.
Former union minister V Narayanasamy, who led a protest demonstration here over the remarks, demanded that the PM dismiss the Minister from the cabinet and initiate criminal action against him.
He said the police action of arresting and remanding eight Youth congress activists holding a 'peaceful demonstration' at the BJP office here yesterday on the issue was not justified and alleged that false cases had been foisted on the cadres by police
Naryanasamy demanded that all of them be released immediately and said the party would continue till this was done.
The BJP office here was attacked yesterday allegedly by Youth Congress volunteers protesting against Giriraj Singh's remarks. The name board and glass windows of the office were damaged in the attack. Some BJP workers inside the building escaped unhurt.
