In the light of NCP chief Sharad Pawar's comments on unity of those political forces that were earlier part of Congress, the party today noted that various outfits have collectively opposed the Narendra Modi government in Parliament on different occasions.
Congress said that while the media knows the stand of NDA allies Shiv Sena and Akali dal on the land acquisition Bill, BJD, which is neither in NDA and nor a part of UPA, has declared that although it is not opposed to the proposed legislation, that does not mean it will vote for it.
"I don't think it is proper to comment on an individual's comments," Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said as he steered clear of reacting to Pawar's remarks.
He also said that he was not aware in what context the NCP chief had made the statement.
Mounting an all-out offensive against the Modi government, Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar on Wednesday indicated that his party was not averse to the "coming together" of outfits that were once a part of Congress.
Pawar's statement came close on the heels of the merger of the Janata Parivar outfits.
Pawar, who was interacting with reporters on the sidelines of a party function in Mumbai, however, indicated NCP had no plans for a complete merger with Congress in the near future.
