Congress sources said that letters in this regard were sent yesterday mentioning specific schedule for each state.
The move comes just days after a senior Congress leader talked about the need to strengthen the party's organisational structure while lamenting that not much attention was given to the organisation when it was in power.
Janardan Dwivedi, who is the General Secretary in-charge of organisation, had said this week that holding organisational elections is currently the biggest priority for the party in his view.
Noting that there was need to pay attention to the organisation, he had said that since organisational elections are to be completed in 2015, the membership drive needs to be speeded up.
