Cong to corner SAD-BJP over drugs, law & order

Congress will raise the issue of farmers' suicide, drugs problem, and law and order situation in the state in the coming assembly session starting from September 8.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party here today presided over by the CLP leader Charanjit Singh Channi and attended by senior leaders including the PCC president Capt Amarinder Singh and AICC Secretary in-charge Harish Chaudhary among others.
"The leaders pointed out that the Akali-BJP government has failed on all fronts and it is the right time to expose them in the Vidhan Sabha. The major issues listed include the farmers' suicides, the drug scourge, denial of blue card to the BPL families affiliated to the Congress and the law and order," the spokesperson said.

"The leaders also deliberated upon the alleged loot resorted to by the Akali-BJP government of the state's resources like the sand," he added.
"Our party will not allow the alliance government to use its brute numbers to browbeat the opposition," said Amarinder.
Commenting on the implosion in AAP's Punjab unit, Amarinder said "I have always believed and maintained that the AAP is a myth and it has already started to explode".
He said the Congress did not consider anyone of the two (SAD-BJP alliance and AAP) as its competitors as the party was "already firmly in the saddle and did not need to depend on the falling fortunes of other parties".

Another meeting of the CLP will be held before the start of the session where the final strategy will be discussed and decided, Channi said.
