Opposition Congress today said that in the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly session, it will demand Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's resignation over the Lalit Modi row and seek CBI inquiry into the escape of criminal Anandpal Singh from a police van.
"There are serious allegations of corruption on the CM and her son. She helped absconder Lalit Modi. There are documentary evidences but PM Modi has not taken any action so far. We will prominently raise this issue in the Assembly," leader of Opposition Rameshwar Dudi told reporters here today.
The Assembly session begins on September 16.
Apart from corruption, deteriorating law and order situation is also an important issue that we will raise, he said.
"Notorious criminal Anandpal Singh along with other criminals managed to escape. Home Minister has admitted there were lapses on the part of police therefore we demand a fair inquiry which is possible only by CBI," he said.
On September 3, Anandpal Singh along with two other criminals managed to escape from a police van, while being taken back to Ajmer jail from a court in Nagaur district. Few unidentified aides of Anandpal who were in another vehicle, had allegedly opened fire at the police van in Parbatsar area and helped the criminals to escape.
Most of the policemen present in the van were unconscious as they had consumed poisonous sweets offered by the aides at Didwana court premises, where the criminals had a hearing.
Dudi also accused the BJP of misusing police and CBI for political gain.
On the question of the Gujjar reservation bill he said the Congress will support it.
However, he said, decision to support or oppose the legislation regarding quota for economically backward classes among forward castes will be taken after studying the bill.
Both the bills are scheduled to be introduced in the session.
