"I met the Governor yesterday and urged him to bar the Shivraj Singh government from holding a Cabinet meeting on the eve of counting of votes for the state assembly polls held on November 25," MP Congress president Kantilal Bhuria said in a statement here today.
Alleging that decision to hold such a meeting ahead of counting was unconstitutional, Bhuria said, "There is no reason for the BJP government to hold a meeting reportedly planned for December 5."
"The Chief Minister remains a caretaker of the government until the election process gets over and he has no right to hold such a meeting during this period," the Congress leader said, adding, similarly, the Cabinet ministers also cannot enjoy such rights.
"The state government is trying to destroy the evidence of corruption, which it had indulged in during the last ten years, as it has realised that is would lose the polls," he alleged.
Alleging that several government servants had tried to help the BJP in 2008 assembly elections, Bhuria cited an example of BJP candidate Neena Verma, who had won the polls by a margin of just one vote against Congress candidate Bal Mukund Gautam from Dhar constituency.
Bhuria sought to know what action was taken against that officer who gave the decision that benefited the BJP in Dhar.
He alleged that there were several other incidents that showed that the government machinery worked hand in glove with the ruling BJP in the state.
