Congress demands white paper on Gadkari's ministry

The Congress in Maharashtra today demanded a white paper on the Road Transport Department, saying that while the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had made announcement of road projects worth lakhs of rupees, budget outlay for his ministry was only Rs 97,000 crore.
"Nitin Gadkari is in the habit of presenting big dreams with big amounts. His dream projects are fantastic but never become reality. He had promised to start an amphibian bus in Mumbai which never started. He spoke about an underground highway from Mumbai to Surat, but it too was a day-dream," state Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant said.
"The total estimated cost of the projects announced by Nitin Gadkari during this year is Rs 12 lakh crore and his department's outlay in Union budget is just Rs 97,000 crore. Budget allocation for road development is Rs 40,000 crore," Sawant said.

Therefore, he should explain where from the funds will come, or the NDA Government should publish a white paper on Gadkari's ministry, Sawant said.
