Both parties today held separate meetings to chalk out strategy to take on the BJP-Shiv Sena government.
Congress Legislature Party, at a meeting here, slammed the government for trying to take the credit for Ambedkar memorial in Mumbai, 'bhumi pujan' for which will be done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 11.
Congress would be organising district-wise meetings to highlight how Congress-led governments had conceptualised the project and did the groundwork for it, said a party leader.
The party leaders at the meeting also stressed the need to forcefully voice people's "anger" against the government.
One of the leaders said the party needed to focus on building the organisation at Nagar Panchayat level because these are now included in local self-government bodies which have representation in the state Legislative Council.
In a separate meeting, NCP president Sharad Pawar discussed the political situation in the state with senior party leaders.
A week-long programme will be held to highlight the government's "failures" with a two-day meeting in Mumbai from October 29, an NCP leader said.
