"These residents are protesting to save their houses. They will be left homeless....Thus, instructions have been given to the District Congress Committee to support these innocent people," Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam told reporters here.
He alleged that the government is being "unnecessarily unfair" to residents, adding that development cannot happen at the cost of human lives.
"Pick a route where you do not have to demolish homes and shops of people. Using this route won't be allowed," he said.
Residents of Girgaum and Thakurdwar plan to stage a day-long bandh tomorrow to protest against probable eviction of locals due to the proposed development of the Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ Metro 3 corridor.
Local residents, Shiv Sena and Congress workers are expected to take part in the bandh.
