Power minister Satyendra Jain has directed discoms to ensure that there is no power cut and overloading during the peak summer months this year after he and DDC vice chairman Ashish Khetan held a meeting which went on till late last night to draw up a summer action plan.
The meeting saw discussions on public grievance redressal and online billing and also the revenue and expenditure details on the website of discoms. It was also decided to write to the Centre for providing cheaper power to Delhi from the un-allocated power under central quota.
According to the government, discoms have assured that they would comply with the directions of the government. However, DDC suggested that the discoms should anticipate the worst-case scenario and make a plan for dealing with it, which it should also share with the government.
Meanwhile, in an indirect attack, the government also questioned power distribution company BSES "for not utilising" their full quota of MW from Saasan power plant, which is run by their sister concern.
"It was decided that the provisions of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) be studied for penalising Saasan for not generating at its full present available capacity.
"DDC pointed out that since Reliance Infra has reduced its stake holding in BSES Yamuna and BSES Rajdhani companies, the distribution companies were asked to submit a detailed report in this regard," the government said.
