Mahtab, Aaftab, Salman, Wasim, Shakil and Imran; all belonging to Meerut and Muzaffarnagar were arrested on Sunday after receiving a tio-off that an illicit arms manufacturing gang is shifting its venue from Meerut to an undisclosed place in Noida and the gang will pass through Hindan river Pushta road on Monday night, Ajay Pal Sharma, City superintendent of police said.
An approaching tempo without a registration number plate was signaled to stop for checking near Hindan railway bridge on Sunday, he said.
A simultaneous search of the vehicle unearthed one finished country made pistol of .315 bore and a huge cache of semi finished pistols, barrels, butts, triggers, springs and various other parts and machinery instruments used for their manufacture, police said.
Upon interrogation all of them confessed of making and supplying illicit arms in the districts of Ghaziabad, Meerut, Muzaffar Nagar, Gautam Buddha Nagar and NCR Delhi, Sharma said.
