Gujarat Congress president Bharatsinh Solanki today said the party would give tickets to all the 57 sitting Congress MLAs for the upcoming Assembly polls, to be held later this year.
Solanki, who returned to Gujarat after meeting party high command in Delhi, expressed confidence that Congress, which is in opposition in the state since last 22 years, would get two-third majority this time.
"Congress has 57 sitting MLAs, and all of them will contest the Assembly polls, as we are very much sure that all of them will win," Solanki told reporters on his arrival at the airport here.
The announcement by Solanki assumes significance as a group within the party led by Shankarsinh Vaghela and some MLAs are not happy with party high command for not giving free hand to latter for elections.
"Apart from these 57 seats, we are confident of winning another 65 seats and get a comfortable two-third majority in the Gujarat Assembly this time," claimed Solanki.
At present, out of the total 182 seats in the Assembly, BJP is in power with 122 seats.
Solanki further added that the party would declare the first list of its candidates, having 50 names, in the first phase.
"In the first phase, we will declare a list of 50 candidates and later on declare names of other candidates in phase wise manner. We will also solve the issue of party organisation soon," said Solanki.
